How to install Microsoft Deployment Toolkit or MDTMicrosoft Deployment Toolkit also called Deployment Workbench or MDT for short is a great tool in deploying Windows Seven or Server 2008 machines in your organization. It comes in very handy if you have enterprise level deployment infrastructure technologies such as Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM). The tool is very versatile to work with other smaller solutions such as Windows Deployment Services (WDS). Microsoft recommends Microsoft Deployment Toolkit as the the preferred way of automating desktop and server deployment tasks. In this article we will demonstrate step by step, how to deploy this solution accelerator called Microsoft Deployment Tool or MDT

The first step is to download the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 2010 from Microsoft at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyId=3BD8561F-77AC-4400-A0C1-FE871C461A89&displaylang=en for x86 version . Note that for complete effective operation, you should install Windows Automated Installation Kit (WAIK) also, we covered that in a step by step article here. Note that you can install and run Microsoft Deployment Toolkit on a Windows Seven machine as well.

Start install by double clicking on msi installer, click next to start the install

Click Next to start the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit Install

Accept Agreement and click Next

Accept the agreement and click next

Choose All Components to install on the default program files directory, click Next

Choose all components to install in MDT

Click Install to run the final install

Click install to proceed

Click Yes on UAC Warning if prompted

Click Yes on UAC warning
