How to install Windows Automated Installation ToolkitWindows Automated Installation Toolkit or WAIK for short is a very important tool from Microsoft that helps you deploy custom computer system images in your corporation or SOHO environments. It's another very powerful "Microsoft Way" of "Ghosting" your machines without a third party solution and is completely free. Using WAIK you can deploy images for Windows 7 and Windows Vista operating systems. WAIK can also be used with other more power deployment tools from Microsoft such as Windows Deployment Services (WDS), Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) and System Center Configuration Manager (SSCM). WAIK lets you create these custom computer "images" or "WIM" files for deployment by using three main tools:

1. ImageX, which lets you capture and deploy images (WIM files)

2. Windows Systems Image Manager (SIM) which lets you create an XML based Answer file

3. Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) which lets you Deploy, manipulate and change the Image files

4. Windows Preinstallation Environment (Windows PE), which in turn has its own tools to assist in image deployment and capture

5. User State Migration Tool (USMT), which lets you capture user settings and information to be migrated from one machine to another
