How to type in Hindi on FaceBook and Twitter

How to type in Hindi on Facebook and TwitterWant to learn another FaceBook and Twitter trick ? Want to know how you can type in Hindi and other East Asian languages on Twitter without a need to install a plug-in, special font, changing your keyboard or even a FireFox extension ? Its very easy and we will show you how to type in Hindi on FaceBook, Twitter or any other application including your favorite Word processing application like Microsoft Word by using free Microsoft and Google Labs tools. You can choose from a variety of languages including Bengali, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Sanskrit, Nepali and Sanskrit

There are two ways of typing in Hindi on your FaceBook or Twitter accounts, the first is to use Microsoft's Indic Language Input tool which is available online and the second method is to use Google's online transliteration tool. There are pros and cons to both tools. Lets first start by using the Microsoft Indic Language Input tool. Its available to you from MSN India website at http://specials.msn.co.in/ilit/Hindi.aspx . The tool allows you to type in  Bengali, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu

Go to Microsofts Indic Input Website to write in Hindi on FaceBook and Twitter

Step1:

- Go to the Microsoft Indic language tool located at http://specials.msn.co.in/ilit/Hindi.aspx

Type in your text it will get converted automatically so you can use Hindi on Facebook and Twitter

Step 2:

- Type in your Text in the box and the tool will automatically convert it to the text in the language you chose. Don't worry about anything that it does not spell correctly for you for now

Correct the spelling of converted word by clicking on it

Step 3:

- Once you have typed all your text in, hover over and click on a Word that you think was not interpreted or typed correctly by the Indic language tool and it will give you options to choose another word from a list or edit the word.

Correct spelling by Editing the word in Hindi so you can post to FaceBook and Twitter in Hindi

Step 4:

- If for some reason, the word is not there in the list presented to you, you can choose to Edit the Word in the language itself, clicking on Edit brings up this language editor where you can type your own word

Your transliterated text is now available to you and you can copy and paste this in any online application such as FaceBook, Twitter, Flicker etc or any Word Processor too. That's how you can type in Hindi on FaceBook or Twitter using Microsoft's Indic Language Tool. Next we will try Google's Transliteration tool
